A Cry of Anguish

April 10, 2020 Preacher: Gareth Franks Series: Easter Season

Topic: The Gospel Scripture: Matthew 27:45–46

Jesus' fourth saying on the cross, was "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" These words spoken around the very moments of the death of Christ speak to the significance of the cross. Arthur Pink writes, "Jesus entered that awful darkness that I might walk in the Light; He drank the cup of woe that I might drink the cup of joy; He was forsaken that I might be forgiven." Jesus said these words on the cross so that you wouldn't have to. Jesus threw open the way to God.
